OpenAI's Operator AI Agent Now Available in Several Countries

OpenAI has expanded the availability of its AI agent, Operator, to more countries beyond the U.S. Initially launched in January 2025 for ChatGPT Pro users in the U.S., it is now accessible in Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the U.K.

OpenAI stated that Operator will be available in most regions where ChatGPT is offered, except for the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland. This expansion advances OpenAI’s goal of developing autonomous AI tools to assist users with everyday tasks.

What is OpenAI Operator?

OpenAI Operator is an advanced AI agent designed to interact with web pages and perform tasks autonomously. It uses its own browser window to navigate websites by typing, clicking, and scrolling, much like a human user would.

This lets it handle tasks like scheduling meetings, managing emails, booking tickets or reservations, filling out forms, shopping online, and even making memes. It understands natural language, so users can communicate with it easily, making it useful for both personal and work tasks.

How to use OpenAI Operator?

  • Sign Up: To begin, you'll need to sign up for a ChatGPT Pro account.

  • Access: Once you're signed in, look for the Operator AI Agent feature in your dashboard.

  • Command Input: Simply type your request or command in natural language. For example, "Operator, schedule a meeting with the marketing team on Tuesday at 10 AM."

  • Confirmation: Operator will confirm the details of the task before executing it to ensure accuracy.

  • Executing Tasks: Once instructed, Operator will execute tasks autonomously by interacting with websites just like a human would, clicking buttons and filling out forms.

  • Customization: You can customize how Operator handles tasks by providing specific instructions or preferences.

Features of Operator

  1. Autonomous Task Execution: Users can instruct Operator by describing the task they need completed.

  2. Custom Instructions: Users can personalize workflows with custom instructions for specific websites.

  3. Safety and User Control: Requests confirmation for sensitive actions; users maintain control over data usage.

  4. Real-Time Task Tracking: Allows users to monitor progress in real-time.

  5. No Technical Expertise Required: Uses plain language instructions.

Conclusion

OpenAI's launch of the Operator AI agent is a big step forward for autonomous digital assistants. Operator is currently available only to ChatGPT Pro subscribers for $200 per month. It runs on a dedicated webpage but is expected to be integrated into all ChatGPT clients in the future.
